Go Eco-Friendly this Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrated as Lord Ganesha’s birthday. The festival lasts up to 10 days in which devotees bring Ganesha idols to their home and worship them. Lord Ganesha is the symbol of power and wisdom and is worshipped first before any auspicious work.
On the last day of the festival, the immersion of Ganesh idols is done into the sea, rivers, lakes or ponds. Most of the idols are painted and are made from Plaster of Paris and toxic non-biodegradable chemical colors. The paint used in these idols are made of lead, hence toxic in nature, and Plaster of Paris dissolves very slowly in water which increases the acidity of water. So, the immersion causes water pollution and also harms the marine life.
To reduce this problem, many devotees have begun installing eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesha. Here are some innovative and eco-friendly idols of Ganesha.
1.     Red Soil Ganesha –
Made from red soil and contains, plant seeds and fertilizers. Instead of immersing this idol in the water you can keep it in a pot and water it daily. The end results are plants growing from it.

1.     Candy Wrapper Ganesha –
This 6-foot Ganesha idol is made from candy wrappers.

1.     Chocolate Ganesha –

This Ganesha idol was made out of chocolate. Upon immersion with milk was distributed as a milkshake in the orphanages.

1.     Sugarcane Ganesha –

Ganesha idol made out of sugarcane was done by 20 workers in Tamilnadu.
1.     Masala Ganesha –

This idol of Ganesha was made from spices like cloves, chilies, mustard seeds, and cinnamon.

1.     Clay Ganesha –
Clay Ganesha idols are the most used form of eco-friendly Ganesha. It is very simple to make and also is environmentally friendly.

Ganesh Chaturthi is just round the corner and we should spread the awareness of Go Green in every festival. So, besides bringing Plaster of Paris idols of Ganesha, go eco-friendly and bring or make any of the above Ganesha idols.
If you are planning to make your own Ganesha then, join ‘Clay Ganesha Workshop’. The workshop is going to be held from 14th August to 24th August at Aakar Art Academy, Jubilee Hills.

With a very low cost of Rs. 500 per Ganesha you can learn how to make your own clay Ganesha idol. So what are you waiting for? Book your tickets for the workshop in advance only atbookanyevent.com.Save our environment and go eco-friendly this Ganesh Chaturthi.
